"Music touches places in the soul that no words could ever reach..." - Shawn Austin
My goal in teaching and playing music is to reach the places in the soul that no words can express. I've been playing the violin and piano for 19 years. I was born with an innate passion to create, and I love to share this art with others.
I currently reside in Northwest Arkansas, but love to travel. I grew up living in 5 different states, have traveled to over 24 states in the U.S. and have traveled abroad to France, Ireland, Switzerland, and Costa Rica. I enjoy riding my bicycle, exploring new coffee shops, strolling the farmer's markets & trying delicious chocolates.
Rachel's teaching methods are based on the Suzuki and European styles. She firmly believes in the Every Child Can program, and strives to inspire students to grow. Her approach to teaching is to evaluate students individually and assess as to how the student learns and adapt her teaching style that will best help the student to achieve.
Rachel has performed in over 200 weddings and she has taught over 50 students in group settings, private lessons and chamber groups, including teaching at The Academy of Excellence Eureka Springs, and is currently employed teaching piano at the New School in Fayetteville Arkansas. Rachel has performed as Associate Concert Master of the UofA Symphony and has played professionally with the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, under Steven Byess, and the Symphony of Northwest Arkansas (SoNA) under the baton of Paul Haas. She has studied with Dr. Roger Bernardi, (Appalachian State University, NC), Dr. Fred Mayer, Dr. Er-Gene Kahng and Paulo Eskitch, (University of Arkansas). She is currently II Violinist in the UofA Faculty String Quartet.
